Geographic Range, Distribution, & Density
In order to show a good example I have decided to focus on the effects on one of the keystone population. If you do not remember the keystone species in the area, I believe to be special trees such as banana trees ,cocanut trees, and other such trees that produce food that consumers eat. I have decided to focus on the population of banana trees. Now every population has a geographic range, otherwise known as the area in which the population lives. When it comes to the banana trees their geographic range is fairly large. Banana trees have a simple geographic range where they populate almost all of Brazil. But populations also have densities, the density of a population of banana trees is about 1500-2500 plants per square hectare. And if you do not know what a hectare is, it is about 2.5 acres. So that is alot of plants. And as you can tell from the density, banana tree populations have a pretty uniformed distribution. This means that each organisum is for the most part evenly spaced out from the other organisums.
Birth & Death
Any and every population expierences both birth and death in the population. only when it comes to plants you can't really call it birth unless you want to get laughed at. But in all techiqallities trees are "born" when on of their seeds is planted in the groun and it starts to sprout. So, yes the "birth rate" can seriously be affected by deforestation. The way it does is it does not allow seeds to produce so that they can fall and begin the sprouting and growing process. And obviously it can also affect the death rate because death can be caused by many different things. The main thing that brings death to plants in the Brazil rainforest is of course deforestation. And since deforestation rates keep on growing every single year, then that basically means that the death rates of the banana tree poopulation increases every year.
Immigration & Emmigration
Another way that the population can increase or decrease is through immigration and emmigration. If you don't already know, immigration is when species of a population move from one geographic range to a different geographic range with similar living conditions. Emmigrations is when species of a population leave their current geographic range in order to move to a diferent geographic range. So in order to immigrate you must also emmigrate. Now the only way that banana trees can emmigrate and immigrate is if the previously cut down banana trees are then moved from one area to the next while they are still alive, and the other way, is if someone where to walk by a banana tree and happened to get a banana seed, if that seed were to then move to another area and get itself planted and it was able to survive then it would have completed the immigration and emmigration imaginary circle.
Summing it all Up
Even thought there are quite a few banana trees out there in existence, the population is still decreaseing, because after all of the fruit has been harvested from these special trees they are then cut down. And since there are more banana trees being cut down then there are being planted, then the population is staying down and will mostlikely stay that way if these patterns continue.
